FAQ
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. Compression runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files never leave your device.
- Why does the quality slider barely change PNG file size?
- PNG is a lossless format, so browsers cannot apply lossy quality to it. For much smaller files, convert PNG to JPG or WebP instead.
- What quality should I choose?
- 80% is a good default for photos: visibly identical for most uses at a fraction of the original size. Try 60-70% for web thumbnails where every kilobyte counts.
- Will compressing affect image dimensions?
- No. Compress Image keeps the original width and height. To change dimensions, use Resize Image.
