FAQ

Are my songs uploaded to a server?
No. Key, BPM, and tuner analysis runs entirely in your browser with the Web Audio API. Your files and microphone audio never leave your device.
How is the musical key detected?
The tool averages a chromagram (energy per pitch class) over your song with an FFT, then correlates it against Krumhansl-Schmuckler major/minor profiles. The best match wins; the top 3 alternatives are shown with correlation scores.
What is a Camelot code?
The Camelot wheel maps each key to a code like 8B (C major) or 8A (A minor). DJs use it for harmonic mixing: mix within the same code, or move one step (e.g. 8A → 9A) for smooth transitions.
How accurate is BPM detection?
BPM uses onset-flux autocorrelation over the middle of the track and folds results into 60–200 BPM. It works best on music with a steady beat; rubato, ambient, or half-time feels may read double/half — try the alternatives by ear.
How does the tuner work?
The tuner reads your microphone with autocorrelation pitch detection (50–2000 Hz), then shows the nearest note and cents offset. Grant mic permission, play one note at a time in a quiet room, and tune until the needle centers.
What formats are supported?
MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC, FLAC, and WebM audio — anything your browser can decode. Files up to 100 MB are accepted.
